In
pre-modern Korean, infant mortality was high. It became
customary for families to wait until the 100th day of birth to
officially celebrate a new child with a Baek Il or "100th Day"
party.
Jake's Baek Il fell on his father's 54th birthday. We combined both
celebrations. We had the traditional Baek Il rice cakes (thanks to
grandmother Han).
We also made Stoli-Doli, vodka infused in pineapple.
Jake also wore his Hanbok, a tranditional Korean outfit.
Good time was had by all.
